Works to demolish the iconic hayshed stand at Tuam Stadium are to commence today.

Last Saturday’s Connacht Club IFC final between Castlerea St Kevin’s and Monivea-Abbey was the last game to be played under the old stand.

The roof on the stand is to be replaced as part of a major revamp which has been made possible thanks to a donation of €350,000 from the late Joe and Helen O’Toole of O’Toole’s Tuam, who committed to supporting the refurbishment in 2018.

Connacht PRO Hugh Lynn confirmed that the stand is to come down to today.
