Trio arrested over €700,000 cannabis seizure in west, charged by Gardaí

Officers discovered the massive haul of cannabis during a search operation on Tuesday

Gardaí have charged the three men who were arrested on Tuesday following the seizure of €700,000 worth of cannabis plants and cannabis herb during a search operation in Loughlynn County Roscommon.

The three defendants, all aged in their 30s, attended a special sitting of Roscommon District Court this afternoon.

The search operation was conducted as part of ongoing investigations by the Mayo Roscommon Longford Divisional Drugs Unit, under Operation Tara, targeting suspected cannabis growhouses..

At approximately 3.30pm on Tuesday afternoon, Gardaí attached to the Mayo Roscommon Longford Divisional Drugs Unit conducted a search operation at a property in Loughglynn. 

The search was conducted as part of an ongoing investigation, under Operation Tara, targeting suspected cannabis growhouses.

During the course of the search, a large-scale cannabis cultivation operation was discovered. Cannabis plants and cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €700,000 was seized by investigating Gardaí. All drugs are now subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland (FSI).
