Cathal Gavin brings his new concert-style show to the stage on two forthcoming dates in Mayo.
The 20 year old, Swinford born tenor, promises to dazzle audiences with his mesmerising voice at two upcoming performances in the county.
Cathal’s Ballina concert will take place on this evening at the Ballina Arts Centre, whilst his Westport concert will take place on Friday June 2 at the Westport Town Hall Theatre.
His music and song has been described as “a powerful voice that transcends beyond his years and translates across generations through his multi genre style”.

The audience will enjoy a night of phenomenal contemporary classical crossovers, the greatest hits and the best sounds of stage and screen featuring songs from ABBA, Andrea Bocelli, Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, Elton John, Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Josh Groban, Leonard Cohen, Michael Bublé, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Queen.
As well as musical numbers from Les Misérables, Moulin Rouge, Phantom Of The Opera and Wicked.
Cathal sprung to fame after he released his 8-track album “Voice of an Angel” in 2015 at the young age of 13.
After four months of sales, Cathal with National and International support raised over €21,000 for Foxford and District Alzheimer’s Charity.
Since then Cathal has performed extensively across the country sharing the stage with some of Ireland’s biggest recording stars. He has also gone on to appear on numerous TV and radio shows.
Cathal performed for Pope Francis at the 2019 World Youth Day (WYD), in Panama, Central America to an audience of 250,000 people, at age 16.
He was the third Irish person and youngest to ever appear at WYD, following after Irish Stars Dana Rosemary Scallon (1993) and Fr. Liam Lawton (2002).
Cathal’s performance was broadcasted to millions of viewers. The accomplished singer has many awards to his name, including The Mayo Dublin Association, ‘Mayo Young Person of the Year 2020’ which was awarded to Cathal has also been dubbed one of Ireland’s leading young singers.
He released his debut single ‘Forever Young’ in July 2021 across all streaming platforms worldwide.
The powerful Irish-Pop single made its way into iTunes Top 100 Charts and maintained a peak position. Following on from the success of his debut single, Cathal reimagined the iconic hit ‘I’d like to teach the world to sing’ made famous by the New Seekers (1971). ‘Christmas Wish’ made its first official airplay in December 2021 and captured large audiences across Ireland.
The single has since been streamed in over 60 countries.
Joining Cathal on vocals are Ballina natives Amy McGrath and Judy Langan.
Amy competed in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, making it to the final with her original song.
She has also appeared on TG4’s ‘Realta agus Gaolta’, which showcases ‘Ireland’s most talented families’.
Judy Langan has showcased her talents in many venues across the region, winning various awards, medals and cups.
She was a finalist in TG4 Junior Eurovision 2017, where she performed her original song.
Judy has played leading roles in amateur productions of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, ‘Annie’ and ‘High School Musical’.
Lorna Dennehy is a native of Ballina and she is now based in Westport. She began singing at a young age under the direction of Ballina’s own Lavinia Gilmartin.
Her main passion is musical theatre, having performed in various different shows throughout the years. She has played the lead roles in shows such as ‘Cabaret’, ‘Rent’ & ‘Little Shop of Horrors’. She went on to train professionally at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where she earned a Master’s Degree in Musical Theatre. Performing then took her around the world, travelling around Europe, USA and South America performing as a lead vocalist on the luxury Silversea Cruise Line.
She is delighted to be a guest performer in Cathal’s show and is looking forward to what promises to be an amazing night.
Cathal is delighted to welcome the children of Scoil Phadraig, Westport, who recently received praised media exposure after their performance of a special song they composed for former RTÉ journalist Charlie Bird, titled, “Ar Aghaidh Le Chéile”.
Cathal is also very pleased to welcome on the Ballina stage, the children of Currabaggan (Naomh Pádraig) Primary School, Knockmore.
Cathal is honoured to be working with musical director extraordinaire Lavinia Gilmartin on this brand new show.
Special guests on the night include Lorna Dennehy and Currabaggan National School, Knockmore for the Ballina Arts Centre and Scoil Phádraig, Westport for the Westport Town Hall Theatre concert.
