Mayo County Council have granted planning permission to Tesco for renovations at their Ballina store.

The works will include the demolition of the existing entrance lobbies and the construction of a new lobby. Also included in the planning permission is new glazing, cladding and screening, the replacement of signage, a new landscaped courtyard, landscape upgrades to the pedestrian area at the front of the supermarket and a new service yard entrance gate.

Internally, there will be a relocated alcohol sales area along with other minor internal layout changes including the provision of new customer toilets. A screened plant deck area will be constructed over the rear of the store with access stairs. Bring banks, e-charging points and bicycle stands are also included.

The news was welcomed by local TD Dara Calleary.

“These works will provide an improved work environment for the team at the Ballina store and an enhanced experience for customers in North Mayo.”
