An extensive search operation will continue tomorrow morning (Sunday) in Crossmolina related to the ongoing search for a missing person.

Gardaí are seeking the public’s assistance in tracing the whereabouts of 68-year-old Seamus Cawley who is missing from his home in Crossmolina, Co. Mayo since Monday morning, 16th January 2023.

Seamus was last seen at approximately 10am when he left his home in a silver Volkswagen Golf with partial registration of 08-MO.

Seamus is described as being approximately 5’9” with a stocky build and grey hair. When last seen, he was wearing a green jumper, checked shirt and navy trousers.

The Grainne Uaile Search and Recovery unit were among the diving teams taking part in the search operation on the river Deel with Garda divers, the Civil Defence and Coast Guard also involved.

The search operation will resume at 8.30am on Sunday.

Gardaí and Seamus’ family are concerned for his welfare.
