Parking will be made free in the county town from tomorrow (Thursday) onwards after a motion was passed at today’s Castlebar Municipal District meeting.
It will be in effect at all council owned car parks in the town, with exception to Dunnes Stores.
Head of the district, Iarla Moran, said it will be in force from 8.30am to 12.30pm and signage will be installed on Friday.
The motion was put forward by Fine Gael councillor Ger Deere and was supported by all fellow councillors.
On-street parking will operate as normal during this time.
