A very special musical treat is in store for the people of the Ballina area and beyond on Sunday next, December 11, when the talented local Rejoice Gospel Choir stages a spectacular Christmas concert with special guests.

The ‘Rejoice! It’s Christmas’ event will take place in St Patrick’s Church, Ballina, from 5pm.

Members of Rejoice Gospel Choir will perform at a special Christmas concert in Ballina next Sunday.

The choral group, under the direction of Amanda Goonan, has planned a truly unique night of entertainment for what will be its first official concert since the Covid-19 pandemic.

Rejoice will be joined by hugely popular local country music star, Gerry Guthrie and the talented students from Treblemakers Academy of Performing Arts. Also contributing to the evening are the wonderful students and staff of St Dymphna’s School and the Haven, by way of providing beautiful artworks and craft pieces which will be proudly on display within the church.

Fittingly, a celebration of community and inclusivity will be the overriding theme of the night.

The choir has prepared an eclectic programme of music, combining the best of traditional and contemporary Christmas songs with some classic gospel numbers guaranteed to leave the audience in the festive mood while showcasing the phenomenal musical talent within the choir’s ranks.

For over two decades, this remarkable community choir has been uplifting people with their unique musical gifts and spiritual ethos. Rejoice Gospel Choir sings regularly at midday Sunday Mass in St Patrick’s Church in Ballina, but also enhances community life and the profile of the town whenever possible by participating in countless concerts, musicals, festivals, TV programmes, and charity endeavours at local, national, and international level.

All are welcome to come along and enjoy the night. Admission is free but donations will be gratefully accepted and donated to the upkeep and refurbishment of St Patrick’s Church.
