A father is being widely praised for his lovely words after his daughter picked up her first LGFA All Star.

Castlebar Mitchels’ Danielle Caldwell was selected at left corner-back following her excellent performances for the Green and Red this season.

Her father Daniel is from East Belfast in a traditional Unionist area and had never seen a game of Gaelic football in his life. He got into the sport when Danielle started playing for the Mitchels after they moved from Wicklow. Although Danielle soon found out that you don’t need shinpads to play!

The pair spoke with broadcaster Jerome Quinn in what is an interview that will brighten up your day.
