Investigations are continuing this afternoon into the cause of a fire in Castlerea overnight.

A fire broke out at a property on the Ballymoe Road out of Castlerea at Harristown in the early hours of the morning.

In a statement issued to the Roscommon Herald this afternoon, Roscommon Fire Services say “Fire Brigade units from Ballaghaderreen, Ballyhaunis and Roscommon town were called to the scene of the Castlerea fire, which was quickly brought under control. The cause of the fire is not yet known, pending a technical examination of the site, which is ongoing.”
