Ballyhaunis native Carlagh Peake has departed for the European Junior Championship in Italy

She is the only Connacht representative on the 24-strong team and will face Scotland in the last 16 today.

The four-time Irish champion will take part in the light bantamweight division with ambitions for gold.

Carlagh took home Bronze from the European Schoolgirls competition in Georgia three years ago.

The Ballyhaunis Boxing Club fighter also took hold gold at the Golden Girl Box Cup in Sweden last May and won her fourth national title two months later.
