The death of a young woman after illness has been met with profound sadness.
Teresa McGeeney passed away peacefully at her home yesterday after a short illness in the presence of her loving husband Kevin and family.
Kevin is chairperson of Athleague Hurling Club and a message of condolence was expressed by the hurling community following the sad news.
“It is with profound sadness we learned of the passing of Teresa McGeeney today, loving wife of Kevin McGeeney from Athleague Hurling Club. All in Roscommon GAA offer our deepest condolences to the families of Teresa and Kevin. May her kind and gentle soul rest in peace,” a message stated on the Roscommon Hurling Facebook page.
Teresa McGeeney (née O’Connor), Auchcloggeen, Claregalway, Co Galway, was late of Athleague and formerly of Curry, Co. Sligo.
She is predeceased by her parents Luke and Kathleen and baby brother Denis. Teresa will be sadly missed by her loving and devoted husband Kevin; brothers Michael James, Tom and Lukie; sisters Anne, Helen, Mary and Philomena; father and mother-in-law, JP and Norah McGeeney; the McGeeney family; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews; relatives; neighbours and friends.
Teresa will repose at Hamrock’s Funeral Home, Athleague on Sunday from 5pm until 8pm followed by removal to St Patrick’s Church, Athleague for evening prayers. Funeral cortege will arrive to St Patrick’s Church, Athleague on Monday, September 26 for Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Burial will take place afterwards in Cregg Cemetery, Claregalway.
