A Mayo woman has become the first person from the county to be elected President of the Coroners Society of Ireland.

A Mayo woman has become the first person from the county to be elected President of the Coroners Society of Ireland

Crossmolina native Dr Eleanor Fitzgerald, who is currently the coroner for North Mayo, was appointed by President Patrick O’Connor at their most recent meeting in Kerry.

Dr Fitzgerald has served as a council member in the society for over 15 years.

She was congratulated by the Ballina Municipal District at their most recent meeting for her prestigious achievement.
