Investigations are continuing into the cause of a fire that extensively damaged a newly constructed house in the Rehins area of Ballina late on Monday night last.

The property was unoccupied at the time, and no one was injured in the incident.

The roof and upstairs portion of the property were significantly damaged.

A passing motorist shared on social media dramatic footage of the house’s roof in flames.

Several units of Mayo Fire Brigade fought the blaze before bringing it under control.

Garda forensic crime investigators have been combing the property in recent days to try and determine the cause of the fire.
