Referees in county Roscommon have decided not to officiate at this weekend’s local GAA fixtures.

In the aftermath of an incident at an underage match in Ballyforan on Wednesday evening, which left one of their colleagues requiring medical attention, a meeting between referee representatives and Roscommon County Board took place on Thursday night. The Roscommon Herald is reporting that it was decided that the referees would be withdrawing their services from this weekend’s matches.

Referees around County Roscommon have shown a red card to local GAA fixtures by withdrawing their services from this weekend’s matches.

The move means that all GAA games in the county will be postponed this weekend, including the final round of games in the senior, intermediate and Junior A football championship.

Roscommon County Board is expected to make a statement later this morning.
