The Killala Live Festival is making its return for the first time since 2018.

It promises to be a very enjoyable few days in North Mayo, with many events taking place.

The festival commences tonight (Wednesday) and will finish on Sunday next.

“We’re delighted to have the Killala Live Festival back after four years,” Keelan Tierney, festival representative, said.

“It’s the first time in a few years that anything big has happened in the town. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone enjoy themselves over the coming days.

“We would like to thank our sponsors and everyone that contributed in making this festival happen.”

It kicks-off at 6pm tomorrow with a Killala Sustainable Energy Workshop in the Community Centre. At 8pm, there will be a Festival Bingo.

On Thursday, attendees will get a chance to show off their moves with a Social Dance with Eamonn Jackson from 9pm to 11.30pm.

On Friday, there will be a Car Treasure Hunt beginning at 6pm from Gilvary’s Pub on Courthouse Street. Then country sensation Stuart Moyles will be banging out the tunes from 8pm on Courthouse Street. The Streets of Galway singer will be supported alongside 2021 Glór Tíre winner Emma Donohue.

Then things will really start to ramp-up at the weekend.

On Saturday, Market Street will be a hive activity as there are plenty of events to enjoy. From 10.30am to 3.30pm, there will be a Vintage & Retro Car Show at Town Park and Lavelle’s car park.

From 12pm-3pm, there will be a Children’s Fun Day at Town Park, which will be jam-packed with activities to keep the little ones occupied.

From 2.30pm-4pm, there will be a test of physical strength and endurance as a Tug Of War competition will be held in Town Park.

From 5pm-7pm, there will be an Alan Donnelly Memorial Busking Competition.

At 7pm there will be a living history in Town Park. 45 minutes later, there will be a Market Street Ball Run.

Saturday’s action concludes with a performance from live energetic band Sum Craic. Their gig kicks-off at 9pm.

On Sunday Church Street will be buzzing with excitement. There will be water sports and activities at the pier from 1.30pm. At the same time, a Terra Firma Outdoor survival workshop at Town Park.

Martin O’Donnell and Trad Band will be playing from 5pm-7pm. Timlin Music & Dance Academy will be performing from 6pm-7pm.

Killala Market opens at 6pm and then Cian & Darragh will be performing from 8pm-10pm.

There will be a fireworks display from 10pm and the festival ends with a live performance from the brilliant Gorilla Radio.

It will be a fantastic few days in Killala, make sure you take part in the action.
