Charlestown native Caoimhe Halligan became the first woman to officiate a Mayo GAA men’s match

A Mayo woman made history over the weekend as she became the first female to officiate a men’s GAA match in the county.

Charlestown native Caoimhe Halligan and Cormac Reape were part of Kevin Connelly’s official team for the clash between Ardnaree Sarsfields and Cill Chomáin in the Division 2 relegation semi-final at Sean Duffy Park on Saturday.

Cill Chomáin won the game 3-12 to 1-11.

“Caoimhe ran the line superbly and everyone associated with Mayo GAA would like to wish her well going forward,” Mayo GAA wrote in a social media post.
