Sligo Rovers face an uphill battle tonight as they try to overcome a four-goal deficit
Sligo Rovers are back in European action tonight in the second leg of their Europa Conference League third round qualifier against Norwegian side Viking FK, but they face an uphill task at The Showgrounds as they must overturn a huge 5-1 deficit.
Their task hasn’t been helped by the news that key defender Gary Buckley will miss the game and the rest of the season after suffering a torn ACL. Buckley was injured in the opening half of the first leg against the Norwegian side on Thursday last and will now require surgery on the injury.
It’s a 7pm start at the Showgrounds.
Rovers have banked €850,000 from their European exploits already this summer.
Former Welsh U-19 international Cameron Evans is set to sign for Rovers as cover, the 21 year-old was on loan at Waterford last season and will provide a boost to the squad for the remainder of the season when he signs in the coming days.
