Next month will see a historic day for Mayo soccer.
Castlebar Town and Swinford will face off in The Acres Killala Mayo Women’s League Senior Cup final on Sunday September 4 at 3pm in Solar 21 Park, Milebush, Castlebar.
Both the semi-finals were fantastic displays of soccer, with one going to a sudden death penalty shootout after each team had nine penalties taken.
In what is a first for soccer in Mayo, this game will be part of a double header, in conjunction with the Mayo Football League, with the Mayo Football League U21 League Cup final will precede The Acres Killala Mayo Women’s League Senior Women’s Cup final.
“This is indeed a fantastic display of the cooperation between both leagues, who both strive to promote the beautiful game of soccer in Mayo,” a spokesperson from the Mayo Women’s League said.
“In what promises to be a showcase of the very best of Mayo soccer, we would invite all to come and witness the fantastic displays of football which are promised.”
