Extensive works on replacing a troublesome cast iron water mains in a Mayo town has been welcomed by a local councillor.
Fine Gael Cllr Neil Cruise says he is delighted that Source Civils, Sligo will commence works on the replacement of cast iron water mains at two locations in Foxford.
The two locations are:
Dispensary Road, Foxford, from the junction of Dispensary Road with the N26 as far as Annie Bourke’s residence. The works will commence next Tuesday and are estimated to take two-and-a-half weeks to complete.
Replacement of a section of the primary water mains (feeding Foxford Town & wider areas of Belass), on Swinford Road from Sliabh na Gréine estate as far as the Grotto and up the Reservoir Road for 50 metres. The works will be completed after Dispensary Road and are estimated to take four-and-a-half weeks to complete.
“These works represent a very substantial investment by Irish Water in further securing our water infrastructure here in Foxford,” Cllr Cruise said.
“I have been fighting for these works for quite some time and am delighted the works are about to commence. I wish to acknowledge the help and advice from my colleagues. In addition, I have received great counsel from management and technical staff (especially in the water section) in both Irish Water and Mayo County Council.”
