Goalkeeper John Vahey is included in Sligo Rovers’ squad for tonight as they take on Motherwell in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers

A young Mayo man is in Sligo Rovers’ squad to face Scottish Premiership side Motherwell in this evening’s second round UEFA Europa Conference League qualification clash.

Kick-off is at 7.45pm at Fir Park.

Goalkeeper John Vahey has travelled with the Bit O’ Red to Scotland alongside fellow Mayo men David Cawley and Cillian Heaney.

The 19-year-old was between the sticks for Ballyheane FC last season as they won the Mayo Super League.

Ballyheane FC took to social media to wish Vahey luck.

“Best of luck to John Vahey, part of the Sligo Rovers squad who play Motherwell this evening at 19.45 in the Europa Conference League 2nd qualifying round.

“John played for Ballyheane FC since the academy winning numerous titles at Mayo Youths, Mayo League and Connaught titles including Quigley Cup, Connaught Cup and Super League.”

The match isn’t being shown live on TV, but Motherwell FC are live-streaming it for 12. It can be accessed by clicking here.
