A Mayo woman is at the centre of a heartwarming love story that unfolded at Ireland West Airport, Knock yesterday.

Partry native Ciara Clarke flew into the airport from London on Tuesday, returning home to Mayo after walking 880km along the famous Camino de Santiago.

It was an extra special homecoming as she arrives home engaged after her fiancé Florian Damaschke who popped the question on the day.

Ireland West Airport shared the lovely news on social media last night and wished the couple well.

“Local Partry girl Ciara Clarke flew into the airport from London today, returning home to Mayo after walking 880km along the Camino de Santiago.

“It was an extra special homecoming as she arrives home engaged after her fiancé Florian Damaschke popped the question yesterday. They arrived in this morning to be greeted by Ciara’s parents Charlie and Mary.

“Huge congrats guys and best wishes in planning for the big day.”
