Some skilled young artists from Mayo were recognised at a recent awards evening held at the Ballina Arts Centre.

Mayo GAA footballer and Mayo Mental Health Association community liaison officer Padraig O’Hora was on hand to present the talented youngsters with their prizes.

There were a number of excellent entries across all categories from young people throughout the county highlighting what Positive Mental Health means to them.

Second, third and fourth prizes were picked up by Martin Heraty, Tadhg Treanor and Saoirse McCaffrey respectively. Finn Donnelly and Hannah Dunford were both recognised in the Special Category for their excellent artwork.

Viktoria Balbusa was awarded the Most Positive Message award for her poster highlighting that “you don’t have to change for other people, focus on yourself.”

Roisin McManamon won the award for the Most Insightful poster, focusing on ‘Incredible Me with All The Tools I Need’ for positive mental health.

With his catchy call of ‘If you feel like life is sinking, try positive thinking’, CJ O’Hara picked up the award for the Best Slogan.

For her dazzling use of colour, Mikayla Foye won the Most Stylish poster award while Meghan Farrell won the Most Positive Poster award for her message of ‘There Is Always Hope’. The Best Detailed Poster was awarded to Katie Lynn.
