A popular family run business in Mayo will close its doors for the final time next week.

The Connaught Inn on Spencer Street in Castlebar will close Monday next, with a leaving party planned for 9pm on Saturday night.

Manager Lee Walmsley, who ran premises for the past eight-and-a-half years, said she was stepping away for personal reasons.

“I would like to thank everyone for their support over the last 8.5 years and urge you to check cupboards and drawers for any gift vouchers you may have as you only have 1 more week to use them. Thank you again,” Lee wrote in a social media post.

The 18th century building offers modern facilities with various room types, all of which are en-suite, three fully furnished self-catering apartments on-site and a large car park to the rear.

However, the popular bar and restaurant won’t be closed for long as it was recently sold through Kevin Beirne Auctioneers.
