The head of the Ballina Municipal District has said there is sufficient parking in the town at the moment, despite concerns raised by councillors.

Mr Turnbull was responding to a point raised by Cllr Seamus Weir that Ballina retailers would stand to lose customers to other towns like Castlebar due to a lack of parking.

Cllr Weir suggested, as he had done in the past that parking facilities be made available at the boys school in Ballina.

“The boys school is close to Market Square and it could be easily facilitated, especially with the Salmon Festival coming up in the next few weeks.”

In response, Mr Turnbull said; “There is loads of parking available in this town, that is the reality and that is the message that needs to go out here today.”
