€290,154 has been allocated for 178 local projects in Mayo under the Community Activities Fund 2021.

The key theme of the fund is to support groups, particularly in disadvantaged areas, with their running costs such as utility or insurance bills, as well as with improvements to their facilities.

The 2021 Community Activities Fund was launched by the Department of Rural and Community Development in November 2021 with funding of €9m available.

Mayo Fianna Fáil TD Dara Calleary welcomed the news saying: “I am delighted that so many Mayo based groups, 178 in total, who do such great work in the communities in which they are based have been allocated funding.

“While relatively small in value, the allocations will still go a long way to supporting these groups with their endeavours on behalf of the community.”

Fine Gael TD Alan Dillon said: “Great news this morning for 178 local projects in Mayo under the Community Activities Fund 2021.”
