Lisa Cafferky found the net after eight minutes as Mayo got their campaign in Group A of the TG4 All-Ireland Ladies senior football championship in Hastings Insurance MacHale Park today.

The Kilmovee Shamrocks player hit 1-2 as Michael Moyles’ side ran out 1-16 to 1-6 winners.

The Green and Red bounced back well having lost last month’s Connacht final to Galway, as they led 1-10 to 0-4 at the interval, making hay with the wind on their backs.

Tipperary were unable to mount a comeback at Niamh Martin found the net for the Premier County.

Next up, Mayo will travel to Longford Glennon Brothers Pearse Park to face Cavan next Sunday (June 19).
