Having lost their second game in the Gaynor Cup, Mayo have gotten their campaign back on track with a dramatic 2-1 win over Kilkenny yesterday evening.

Mayo have now won two and lost one in their opening three games

With two games in the one day, Mayo needed to bounce back from their 3-0 defeat to MGL North and they surely did.

They led 1-0 at the break through an Emma Higgins strike but they were pegged back seven minutes from time as Kilkenny equalised.

However, Mayo weren’t settling for a draw as Amy Murphy’s corner was met by a thumping header from Aine Monaghan to win it.

Best for Mayo over the two games today were Cara Culkin, Amy Doherty, Aine Monaghan, Aoife Meaney, Kasey Ruane, Emma Higgins, Róise Burke and Ursula Shaughnessy.
