There will be extensive roadworks taking place in Foxford town over the next three to four weeks.

The N58 (Castlebar Road) road from the junction with Hawthorn hill, through Main Street as far as Guirys corner, is being planed out and being completely re-laid with strengthening and finishing courses.

When this is complete, the N26 from the junction with Pontoon Road, across the bridge and finishing at O’Hara’s centre and the library, will be planed out and re-laid with strengthening and finishing courses also.

There will be diversions and consequent delays. The works are being completed from 7pm to 7am each day to minimise disruptions.

Foxford-based councillor Neil Cruise said the works are necessary.

“It is necessary to carry put these works at this time of year as the ground temperatures are far more favourable and this will give a much better chance of completing the works successfully, thus lasting a lot longer.

“These works are another very significant investment in our road infrastructure in the Foxford area. Please accept apologies in advance for any inconvenience caused.”
