A popular shop in the west is set to close its doors to the public after nearly 40 years in business.

As reported by the Roscommon Herald, Paul Byron Shoes in Ballaghaderreen told staff of the closure decision in recent days. It is understood that the Ballaghaderreen premises will close for good in the next few weeks.  The Paul Byron Shoes store in Roscommon Town will continue in operation.

Founded in 1978 by Paul Byron, Paul Byron Shoes has grown over the years, adding new stores, brands, categories and departments, including its Ballaghaderreen branch. The business operates 17 stores across the  country and has established one of the largest independent footwear retailers.

The company says that it is “immensely proud of our heritage and the loyal following we have built up over 40 years’ operating in Ireland. Our business is constantly evolving and adapting to the ever changing market but our core values remain the same.

“Our teams are dedicated to providing the best customer service, they are the best in the business offering expert advice on all of your footwear needs.”
