Gardaí attached to Ballina Garda Station carried out an operation this morning related to an alleged assault that took place in the Bunree area of the town last Sunday, May 8.
Gardaí were made aware of the alleged assault when they became aware of a video circulating online of the incident and launched an investigation.
The operation took place this morning and involved the search of a number of properties around the town. A number of electronic devices that are believed to have evidence of the incident were seized and Gardaí have spoken to some of the parties concerned.
Superintendent Gary Walsh of Ballina Garda Station said: “This is part of an ongoing operation into anti-social behaviour around the town. This type of behaviour isn’t going to be tolerated by the Gardaí or the citizens of Ballina.”
