Eibhlín Ní Chonghaile will be MC for the 2022 West of Ireland Women’s Mini-Marathon.

This year’s Western People West of Ireland Women’s Mini-Marathon MC is very excited for Sunday’s showpiece event and feels that it is inspiring to see so many women taking part.

Mount Falcon communications manager Eibhlín Ní Chonghaile is no stranger to having a microphone with her many years of work with TG4 but she feels it is an honour to be the MC for the Mini-Marathon.

“It really is a huge honour. When they asked me I said, ‘you must be crazy!’ but of course I said yes,” Eibhlín told the Western People.

“The statistics tell you that girls in secondary schools drop sport and it’s so true. I was lucky, I didn’t, I kept it up ’til the end but the second I reached university I dropped it immediately and it was a big mistake. I could have had a better healthier and more enjoyable university experience if I had stuck with sports. So to see all these women going out on Sunday to run for themselves or for various different causes is inspiring and I really admire them.

MC Eibhlín Ní Chonghaile believes Sunday’s West of Ireland Women’s Mini-Marathon will be a special day.

“It promises to be a great day and the more women that come out the better. The more women that stand together and support each other and do it for good causes, it is so commendable and I think when women come together, it’s what we do best,” the Galway native said.

Online registration is now closed but if you wish to participate, you can register in person by visiting Mayo Sports Partnership, Mayo House, Moneen Rd, Castlebar today between 10am and 1pm. Or you can phone 094-90-6 4360.
