The man who propelled Sligo to their first ever under-20/21 Connacht title gave an incredibly raw and emotional post-match interview after last night’s final in Markievicz Park.
Skipper Jack Lavin’s long-ranged effort on the 58th minute managed to find the net as Sligo ran out 4-4 to 1-12 winners over Mayo.
While it was a cruel way for Mayo to lose, it would be hard to begrudge the Yeats County after what everyone in GAA circles there went through following the sudden death of Red Óg Murphy earlier this month. Red Óg was captain of the Sligo under-20s in 2021.
