A candlelight vigil will be held in Ballina this evening to shine a light on hate crimes against the LGBTQ+ community following the murders of two men in Sligo last week.

It will begin at 8pm in Tom Ruane Park on the Sligo Road and attendees have been asked to bring candles.

Mayo TD Dara Calleary said: Let’s stand against hate and violence this Wednesday April 20th in Ballina-Tom Ruane Park (Town Park) Sligo Road-at 8pm. Bring a candle to light the darkness.”
