Three hill walkers were rescued by the Mayo Mountain Rescue team in West Mayo yesterday evening.

According to Midwest Radio, MMRT were tasked to assist three walkers on Ben Lugmore ridge at around 5:40pm yesterday. They had become disoriented in dense mist and were finding it hard to find a way down.

Several members of the team arrived at Doolough and prepared to ascend the mountain however the mist cleared and the walkers could see their way, deciding to descend unaided.

The team was stood down at 6:30pm but the team leader and another member remained on scene and in communication with the party on the hill until they were safely off the mountain.
