New data reveals that Castlebar has the highest 14-day incidence rate of Covid-19 in the country.

The Castlebar Local Electoral area has an incidence rate of 2,847.1 cases per 100,000 of the population over the past 14 days. That’s compared to the national average of 1,871.1 cases per 100,000 during the same period. There were 862 cases in the Castlebar LEA over the two-week period.

Mayo has seen 2,497 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 14 days. The incidence rate for the county stands at 1,798.4.

TheClaremorris and Westport electoral areas also have an incidence rate that is above the national average.

Claremorris has a current 14-Day incidence rate of 2203.3 per 100k of the population.

Westport has a 14-day incidence rate of 1882.7 per 100k of the population with 346 new cases.

The incidence rate in Ballina was below the national average and was the third highest in the county. Ballina has a current 14-day incidence rate of 1676.6 per 100k of the population.  The total number of confirmed cases in the LEA over the 14-Day period was 421.

Swinford saw 268 new cases and has an incidence rate of 1,550.4. Bemullet has the lowest incidence rate in the county at 1,396.8.  The number of confirmed cases in Belmullet over the 14 days was 176.
