There was good news announced for a North Mayo national school yesterday as their proposed extension have been approved.

Lisaniska National School in Knockmore have had their proposal to extend their premises with a new classroom, two Special Education Needs rooms and a bathroom was approved by the Department of Education yesterday evening.

Mayo TD Dara Calleary was delighted for the school, “I am delighted for school principal Aisling Hopkins, her board of management, staff and pupils and glad to have assisted in securing the approval from the Department (of Education) and Minister (Norma) Foley.”

Deputy Calleary says that he hopes that the project is fully finished in the next 18-24 months.
