Hearty congratulations have been extended to golfer Leona Maguire, who became Ireland’s first LPGA tournament winner in Florida at the weekend.

The 27-year-old from Co Cavan became the first Irish winner on the US tour with a three-shot victory at the Drive On Championship, which earned her a quarter of a million dollars.

It followed her success in the Solheim Cup last year. On social media over the weekend Castlerea Golf Club has extended its warm congratulations to the Cavan golfer on her success.

Leona and her sister Lisa are honorary members of Castlerea Golf Club, where their aunt Mary Calleary is a member and former Lady Captain. The sisters played an exhibition match on the Co Roscommon course a number of years ago.
