The Kieran Cawley Fundraising Game organised by Crossmolina Deel Rovers in the NUI Galway Connacht GAA Air Dome in Bekan on Saturday evening was a resounding success.
Four teams selected from An Garda Síochána, the Irish Prison Service, Crossmolina and Mayo club players did battle to raise funds for Kieran, a GAA and Rugby referee and prison guard, who is battling a rare form of cancer.
Mayo and Crossmolina footballing legend Ciarán McDonald lined out for the Crossmolina outfit, made up of most the 2001 All-Ireland winning side, and he showed that class is permanent. The current Mayo senior coach/selector put on an exhibition for all in Bekan.

That outside of the left foot-pass is still a sight to behold. You can’t teach that.
