Sligo native Johnny Kenny has been officially unveiled as Celtic FC’s newest signing this afternoon.

The striker has joined Celtic from Sligo Rovers for a fee in the region of €150,000, which could rise with bonuses. The 18-year-old was Rovers’ top scorer last season, as he banged in 11 goals while being in his Leaving Cert year. He has signed a five-year deal with the Glasgow club.

The transfer was confirmed last Saturday evening and Kenny took to Twitter to say how proud he was to be joining Celtic.

Kenny is one of four signings manager Ange Postecoglou has made in the January transfer window, as Japanese trio – Daizen Maeda from Yokohama F. Marinos, Yosuke Ideguchi from Gamba Osaka and Reo Hatate from Kawasaki Frontale will join the Bhoys.
