Met Éireann is warning of a risk of some localised flooding in the north and west of the country today, with rain and thunderstorms set to develop across the region.

Sunday is set to be a wet and blustery day across the country. It will be windy from the morning and although some sunny spells may develop along with scattered showers in the earlier part of the day, by the afternoon the rain will become more widespread.

Forecasters are warning that some of these showers may become heavy and lead to thunderstorms and possibly to instances of localised flooding, particularly across the north and west of the country. Temperatures will remain relatively mild with highs of between 8 and 11 degrees.

It will remain windy with more clear spells coming into Sunday night, but heavy and prolonged showers will remain in the west and northwest.
