After many years of campaigning, construction of a new school building for Culleens National School on the Killala Road, Ballina has been given approval from the Department of Education.

It is anticipated that works on the multi-million euro, 12 classroom project will commence next week on Monday December 13th.

Mayo TD Dara Calleary welcomed the news:

“Congratulations and well done to Principal Clair Cooke and her board of management on moving the project forward with such commitment and dedication over the course of many years. I am delighted for everyone connected with the school to finally get it over the line.”
