All schools currently or forecast to be in an Orange or Red warning area should remain closed tomorrow, according to Virgin Media News.
That means schools from Mayo, Sligo, Galway, Leitrim, Donegal, Cork, Kerry, Waterford, Limerick, Clare and Wexford should remain shut for tomorrow.
Schools who are no longer in a Orange or Red Alert area can reopen if they are satisfied there are no risks such as fallen wires – individual schools have choice to remain closed if they believe it justified.
Earlier Minister for Housing Darragh O’Brien said: “We are only halfway through. The winds may increase, and are projected to do so later in the day and into the evening.
“Not that there’s any sense of complacency. The public have responded really well, but just to be on their guard.
“I think people should be on their guard throughout today and into tonight.”
