A train from Mayo to Dublin was forced to stop at Claremorris as Irish Rail called Gardaí onboard to remove a group of young men on Sunday.

The group of four men were refusing to wear masks and became verbally abusive with staff.

This news comes after there has been a sharp rise in anti-social behaviour on trains, with one stopping in Claremorris for over two hours just a month ago.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána to Western People, “Gardaí responded to reports of a disturbance on a train yesterday afternoon. Upon arrival no offences disclosed.”
