Truckers Tommy Collins, Ballaghaderreen, and David Simon, a Sligo native, joined forces recently and organised a ‘Drive it on 2021’ event. Over 70 trucks took part and it was a fantastic spectacle to see the truck run from Ballaghaderreen to Charlestown. With a raffle and spot prizes also up for grabs, the duo has managed to raise just over €5,000.

Tommy and David both would like to thank the Garda Sìochána, bike marshalls, stewards, family and friends for all their help in organising the event. All proceeds raised are going towards Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation.

Tommy said: “We are blown away with the support we received from the trucking community. Lads and ladies travelled far and wide to take part and everyone made a huge effort getting their trucks ready for the run. The local Gardaí assisted us and also we had all the stewards on hand to make sure it was a fun and safe event. Our aim was to raise €6,000 for the hospice so we are leaving the online donation link up for another few days and hoping we can reach our goal.”
