Crews are on site at Castlebar’s Rowan Drive this morning repairing a burst water mains.

Irish Water and Mayo County Council are working together to restore water to customers affected by the burst as quickly as possible.

Customers in Rowan Drive can expect to experience water outages up to 6pm this evening while homes and businesses in the Breaffy and Castlebar areas could experience some low pressure throughout the day.

Irish Water’s Ger Greally said: “Dedicated crews have mobilised and repairs are underway. They are being conducted as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimise disruption to the area and restore water to customers. We understand the inconvenience unplanned outages can have on customers and we appreciate your patience as we work to return the water supply to homes and businesses as quickly as possible.”

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Irish Water receive direct communications planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

The Irish Water customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact via Twitter @IWCare with any queries. For updates please visit the Water Supply Updates section of the Irish Water website www.water.ie.
