There are 24 patients left without a bed at Mayo University Hospital today.
There were 17 people waiting on trolleys and seven on wards at the Castlebar hospital. There were 35 patients on trolleys and wards at MUH yesterday.
Elsewhere in the West today, there were 59 bedless patients at Galway University Hospital, 11 at Portiuncula, and nine and Sligo University Hospital.
The number of patients on trolleys has almost doubled this October when compared to the same time period in 2020, the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation has claimed. They say overcrowding at MUH during the month of October reached record levels.
The number of confirmed Covid-19 patients at MUH stands at 18 (unchanged from the previous day). Three Covid-10 patients were being treated in ICU at MUH. The hospital had no available general or ICU beds.
