The number of patients with confirmed cases of Covid-19 at Mayo University Hospital (MUH) has increased in the last week.

On Thursday, October 14 there were 3 patients who tested positive for the virus at MUH according to the HSE’s Daily Operations Report.

Last night, October 21, a total of 8 patients were confirmed to have tested positive for Covid-19.

However, there are currently no patients with suspected cases of Covid-19 at MUH.

A suspected case of Covid-19 refers to patients who are currently awaiting the results of a Covid-19 swab.

Elsewhere in the region, Galway University Hospital (GUH) is currently the second most impacted hospital in Ireland, with 39 confirmed cases of Covid-19 on site at GUH. There are also 3 patients with suspected cases of the virus in GUH.

In Sligo University Hospital, there are 15 patients with Covid-19 with 3 further patients awaiting Covid-19 swab results.
