An Garda Siochana has issued an update to the Western People regarding an incident that took place on an Iarnród Éireann train on Monday in Claremorris.

The 13.10 Westport-Heuston train was delayed in Claremorris for two hours on Monday afternoon due to anti-social behaviour that resulted in Gardaí being called to the scene.

Iarnród Éireann tweeted at 2.29pm on Monday that the service was delayed and that they were awaiting the arrival of the Gardaí due to anti-social behaviour.

At 2.49pm, they issued an update to say that Gardaí had arrived on site and at 3.13pm, they tweeted once more to say that the Westport-Heuston train remained held in Claremorris.

At 3.45pm, they issued a final update.

“13:10 Westport – Heuston has departed Claremorris operating approximately 120 minutes delayed.”

Gardaí have since issued an update.

“One man was escorted from a train with the assistance of An Garda Síochána in Claremorris on the 18th October 2021. No offences were disclosed to Gardaí in the course of attending this incident,” said a Garda spokesperson.
