Thousands of people from across the region are taking to the streets of Dublin to take part in a mica/pyrite protest.
Campaigners have arrived in the capital demanding a 100 percent redress scheme for those who have been affected by the issues.
Coach loads of campaigners left Mayo early this morning headed in the direction of Leinster House, in addition to affected home owners in other parts of the northwest including Donegal and Sligo.
Martina Hegarty of the North Mayo Pyrite Group spoke to Western People reporter Tomás Keating about the strong attendance for the protest and the aims of today’s protest.
A draft report estimates that the total cost of the Redress Scheme could hit 3.2 billion euro and the government is currently considering that report.
