Mayo County Council and Oweninny Power Designated Activity Company have announced the allocation of €162,400 to 34 North Mayo community groups.

Funding has been awarded to a variety of projects ranging from Social Inclusion and Community Development to Local Health and Recreation Amenities. The money comes from a benefit fund established for local communities from the Oweninny Windfarm development.

Demand for the fund was oversubscribedAerial shot of the Oweninny wind farm site taken at dawn on June 28 last. but Mayo Council is reminding unsuccessful applicants that the fund will re-open in 2022.

Funding allocations have been broken down by geographical area as follows:

Eskeragh €53,720; Bellacorrick €37,180; Crossmolina €20,500; Bangor €16,500; Area wide €16,000; Keenagh €10,00; Moygownagh €8,500.
